OVER

How do I tell you
I want to be loved differently
than the way you love me.
Is this too hard to grasp?

Not more romantic gestures
But that wouldn’t hurt
Since I was raised on fairy tales.
Do dreams really come true?

I’m talking about deeply showing
The depth of your love
With words, actions and affections.
Can you start soon?

A ballet starts slow and builds
With music, movements and soul
Magic from each fingertip and leg bend.
Do you want enchantment?

I want that kind of fairy dust
The kind that leaves you breathless
Yearning, wanting, with each exchange.
Can’t you sense it?

Your silence creates a chasm
Of neglect and daily solitude
Every weekend with no text or calls.
Is this your intention?

You’re teaching me the hard way
Of living without your voice or laughter
By leaving me alone when you’re alone.
Or are you?

You’re showing me my garden of life
Needs to be filled by me, not you or us.
I thought we were in this together.
Not so much now?

Love is a bond built over time
Space, years, centuries, lifetimes.
We travel to our karma until it burns out.
Are we over before we try again?

Zuzu Zanders is you. She is me. She is every woman who seeks clarity, vision and guidance from within herself.
