Love and Self Love

Love and Self Love are two sides of the same coin,
aren’t they, beloved?
Love, inherently is freeing.
Freeing to give, but also to receive:
From others, surely, but also from oneself.
That balancing act between giving and receiving—
To others, from others, from oneself, and to oneself,
Is the underlying dance
We learn from each other
But, most so
from ourselves—
As love and self love are not apart,
Neither are We from Ourselves,
Nor the Masculine from the Feminine,
The Divine from the Human,
Nor You, from I
Read on, as we fall in love—
Wholly with each-other,
Wholly with ourselves,
And embrace this dance we will learn to dance,
Until the end of Time
Until Love and Self Love become one,
Until You, and I, become one,
my dearest, Soul of mine.

Slow burn: A Divine Masculine Set Ablaze

A fire has consumed over me,
A slow burning unbeknownst of rest,
Sheering pain,
Numbing my bones out of mercy,
Without that mercy extended to
My Soul, which smolders
At the blankness of your eyes.
What happened, Soul of mine?
How did we get here?
Why is this tsunami of tears
I’ve poured upon myself
Not enough to extinguish
The fires of hell you’ve
Brandished me into?
Were you not the one to awaken me so?
Were you not the Divine fires of the
Omniscient Feminine that
Brought me to my knees
In surrender to love?
Where are you now?
Why has the light of sacred fires
Not but diminished but thoroughly
Extinguished from your eyes?
The Divinity that once overwhelmed me in you,
That once had turned colors vivid,
Words into poetry,
And this world into
A gateway to the Heavens,
Where has it gone?
Where have you gone, Soul of mine?
Within her body, you lived,
The Divine Feminine herself,
Where have you gone, now?
Have we not had enough of years of brutal separation?
Did we not pass whatever trials and tribulations
That needed to have passed through
For us to make it towards the
Promised union?
Yet, where did you go?
Before we have become one
Before love came to fulfillment
Why is it I, alone, thrown to eat fire
With none of your waters spared to heal?
To feel
The magnitude of heat
Scarred into my being
From the once seething sacred fires of your eyes…
Now—
Blank,
Cold,
Devoid of life—
Devoid of
Y o u.

Where did you go?

MORE ABOUT SHERLEY JENNIFER

I’m an Indian American woman, and I write about the dynamics and energies of Divine polarities, in the voices of both the Feminine and Masculine. As a woman of color, having been born in India and raised in the U.S., I come with a shared perspective of the Feminine, one where the Feminine has been and continues to be oppressed in many ways by the world. I explore the shades of that perspective by way of my poetry and prose, in hopes that this oppression may one day cease for the daughters that follow us.

ABOUT UNION OF THE DIVINE AND THE HUMAN

Divine Love and Sacred Partnerships: the exploration of Feminine and Masculine rising, Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine rising: the contrast, intersection, and union of the sacred Feminine and Masculine Duality— explored deeply as energies; within each individual, within the dynamic of love partnerships (as lovers who find and seek to unite with each other in this timeline), and as a Collective, in its relation to consciousness in this timeline.

This is a story and journey that I feel needs to be told, because love is Universal— both as a Divine love we have for another, and a Sacred one that we (have to) learn to hold for ourselves. More importantly, how does this dynamic develop, intersect, and expand? How does it factor into our individual and collective spiritual journeys? This is what I hope to explore, by ways of soulful poetry and prose, in context with current collective energies and experiences.

I created 13MOONS Magazine to resurrect the sacred feminine in Stories and Art. As a Seeress who'd worked directly with Oshun, Yemaya, Oya, and other earlier Goddesses, I noticed a stark difference in these energies and those of later iterations, such as Venus and Aphrodite. It is like parts of these beings were stripped away. Whether to fit the fashion of culture or men, I'll leave for you to decide, but this just didn't sit right with my spirit. And so I dreamed of a platform which would amplify the real voice of the feminine - Stories and Art created by actual women from our perspective, without apology. And here we are.I am called Astara, a name I received during meditation, meaning Little Sirius. I am here to draw down the energy of Ast, also known as Auset, Isis, and the latest: Mother Mary, truly just a hint of the Original anymore. I am here to Remember and to help Remind us of who we are as women, who we are beneath patriarchal whitewashing and power politics as religion. I am here to Remind us of the wisdom we hold within each of our cells which we have mistakenly (and blasphemously) called our meat suit. I am a Sensual Fluency Educator and Tranceworker, offering tools I've channeled from my own body to help you connect with yours. Reach out anytime if you'd like to hear more.
