We died a thousand times
Releasing past versions of ourselves.
You taught us who to be and how to be.
“Don’t do this or only do that.”
You raised us in a way for someone else.
But what about us?
We didn’t want to be molded and scolded
Or turned into someone new.
What was wrong with who we were?
Why is it that we had to dim our light?
In order to do what? Listen to everyone else?
What happened to listening to ourselves?
I could have sworn you taught us how we feel is wrong and that what you say is right.
So why didn’t it feel that way when we went to sleep at night?
Questions running through our head:
Wasn’t I enough?
Why can’t they love me for who I am?
Those thoughts drowned out by authority.
“Oh, sorry. I’ll just listen quietly…”
So we dimmed and dimmed,
Being the good little girl you raised us to be.
“Who are you?” is what they’re asking me.
I’m who you told me to be because you said:
“Don’t question me.”
“Little girls shouldn’t ask grown women questions.”
“I’m your ___, you better not speak back to me.”
Respecting you and neglecting ourselves
Until one day we’ve had enough.
Enough of all the god damn rules.
Enough of being who and what everyone else wants us to be.
Enough of second guessing and making ourselves small.
Remembering who the fuck we are and what we came here to do.
We died a thousands times
So we could come back to this point in time and say fuck you.
To remember who the fuck we are and stand in our power.
The metamorphosis is over.
Divine feminine is rising, so move over.
