Shadow work. It’s a phrase that anyone who has done personal development has heard at some point. Most of us have DONE quite a lot of it, in fact.
What is the definition of shadow work?
The common explanation is “Working with your unconscious mind to uncover the parts of yourself that you repress and hide from yourself. This can include trauma or parts of your personality that you subconsciously consider undesirable.” (according to Google)
Basically, it’s all the crap that keeps us small, makes us self-sabotage, keeps us in co-dependency, keeps us stuck and generally stands in the way of who we want to become and what we want to call in.
The shadow is eg0-based. It is not bad, but it is here to teach us. And it will keep showing up unless you listen to it.
So now that we know what it is, it’s important to understand what to DO with your shadow once you uncover it.
There are lots of ‘tools’ out there. Some of them are about crushing your shadow and treating it like your worst enemy. Finding ways to
obliterate and kill it. (I do not subscribe to this approach).
Some of them are about transforming your shadow; making it into something that is more aligned with a higher, or more desirable frequency or vibration.
I know and use some tools regularly including journaling, breathwork, EFT tapping, meditation, mantas, chanting, incantations, and even a way to work with your shadow as a fun game.
And they do help to shift your energy and mindset.
But that’s not what I want to talk about today.
I want to talk about just BEING with your shadow.
Not trying to change it or transform it.
Not using a tool so you don’t have to fully FEEL it.
But being in the discomfort and allowing it to just be there.
That’s exactly what I’m going through right now.

After a deeply transformational spiritual awakening last weekend, I am finding myself seeing my ego/shadow side in a whole new light.

And all the places I haven’t been in full integrity.
I teach all about feminine energy, flow, surrender, receiving, allowing and following your intuition, but I see all the places in my life where I have not fully been doing this.
I now see all the areas in my life where I was still trying to control the outcome. Where my shadow side that is about ‘taking action to get results’ was taking over.
My shadow side tells me I have to work x amount of hours a day and to ‘move the needle forward’ in my business.
My shadow side tells me I can’t rest until I’ve done what I need to do.
I am sitting in DEEP discomfort.
I am being called to fully surrender and embody divine feminine energy on a whole new level.

And it’s uncomfortable AF. 😩
My ego likes to be busy. My ego likes to be in action and have a plan.
To know what’s next. What the next steps are. And to be in CONTROL.
Or at least feel like it is.. 🤪🤷🏻‍♀️
But right now it’s NOT time to figure out the next steps.
It’s time to observe, and to feel everything/ including some deep grief I’m moving through-
And to completely SURRENDER the need to be in action and working toward the next steps.
To allow myself to feel this deep discomfort and to rest even more while my cells integrate.
Just like the earth has seasons, we have seasons too.
We weren’t meant to be in constant bloom.
There are times to be in the darkness and let the seeds germinate.
That’s what the divine feminine is calling me to do.
Calling me TO just BE, to trust and to fully surrender to her.
It’s okay to be uncomfortable. It’s in the discomfort that we grow and expand.
What is your shadow side showing you?
What is it asking or requiring of you?
